ERIC R. BEVER

Eric R. Bever was elected to the City Council on November 2, 2004. Mr. Bever was appointed Mayor on January 2, 2008 and served a term of one year. On November 4, 2008 Eric was re-elected to serve a second term on the City Council.

Eric and his wife Tammy have called Costa Mesa home since 1987. Eric is a Southern California native, who was born in Glendale and spent his childhood in the Whittier area, growing up with 3 brothers. During his teen years, Eric volunteered with the Whittier YMCA summer camp program where he enjoyed working with kids of all ages. Eric earned his B.A. degree from Cal State Fullerton.

During 2004, Eric served on the Costa Mesa Planning Commission, and also served several terms as President and Treasurer of his homeowners association during the 1990’s. In 1999, Eric Co-founded the Westside Improvement Association, and served as the group’s Co-Chair. During the past 9 years the WIA has worked diligently to shed light on, and find solutions to the overwhelming needs of the Westside of town and major issues Citywide. Eric also served on the Community Redevelopment Action Committee, and continues to believe that Costa Mesa has the potential to be “The Best of Southern California”.

In addition to serving as Vice-Chair of the Costa Mesa Redevelopment Agency, Eric is also Council Liaison to the following City Committees and Boards: Costa Mesa Tourism and Conference Bureau, Cultural Arts, and Historical Preservation. Eric has also worked with the “Friends of the Libraries” to pursue a new Central library, and is a graduate of the Citizen’s Fire Academy, and a member of the Costa Mesa Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT).

In 1988, Eric went into business, originally offering graphic design services, before delving into the fields of Art and Antiques.
